
José Alberto Ribeiro is Director of the National Palace of Ajuda-Royal Treasury Museum since 2013.
President of ICOM Portugal from 2014 to 2020 and Director of the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum from 2006 to 2013.
As Director of the National Palace of Ajuda, he is responsible for managing, cultural programming and co-curating exhibitions.
He is author and co-author of several books and studies on Art History and Heritage.
He researches the history of collections and Portuguese art of the 19th-20th centuries, focusing particularly on the members of the Portuguese Royal House and their cultural and artistic practices.
José Alberto Ribeiro has a degree and a Master’s in Art History with postgraduate degrees from the International Summer School in Cultural Economics (Amsterdam), Cultural and Creative Entrepreneurship and Management (ISCTE/INDEG) and the Royal Collection Studies Course (The Attingham Trust, Windsor, UK).
